I really enjoyed my chapter a lot. Algebra is one of my favorite subjects in Math. I thought that it was really fun to learn more Algebra that can be done with younger kids as well. <br \/>\nAlthough I practiced my lesson a lot, I still felt that I acted very nervous. I was very nervous! <br \/>\nI felt that I did not read the book (Two of Everything) to the class very well. I practiced reading the book to Anthony over and over again, but I guess it made me more nervous reading it to adults vs. a six year old. I felt that I didn't read the book very enthusiastically and that I got stuck on parts that I should not have got stuck on. <br \/>\nI also totally forgot to make copies of my hundreds chart, I guess I let my nerves get the best of me. I had planned to print off hundreds charts that morning, but somehow I let it slip my mind. Thankfully, Wendy had a hundreds chart in her notebook and Aly had enough change, so I was able to make copies before my lesson began. <br \/>\nOne other thing that didn't go well had to do with the M&amp;Ms. I had originally bought a jumbo bag of the pretzel M&amp;Ms. I sorted them by color the night before the lesson and realized that I did not have enough for the whole class. I had to go by Food City in the morning to get more M&amp;Ms. This was something little that happened, but something that was very nerve racking to me. <br \/>\nOverall, I felt that I did a good job teaching my lesson. After some of my nerves wore off I felt much better about it. I feel that I was very flexible, in that I changed some of the ways that I did my activities. I felt that using the flip chart really helped me a lot, because I had already written everything I wanted to go over. I felt that everyone really enjoyed the Hexagon Dragon activity and the M&amp;M pattern activity. I feel that even though I was very nervous, I was still able to stay calm enough to present all of my activities pretty good. I didn't think that I was going to get nervous because I had practiced and practiced, but I still did! <br \/>\nJust a little side note: I took the rest of the M&amp;Ms home to my son, Anthony, and the pattern strips. I told him that he could do some of the patterns and then eat some of the M&amp;Ms. Before he started he looked at me and said, &quot;Mommy, I am going to call this activity Pattern Munch!&quot; Who would have thought! :)","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"43225424","body":"I really enjoyed your chapter Jamie and your lesson! I thought that this chapter was more fun then some of the previous chapters. I could not tell that you were nervous, you did an excellent job! I really liked the dragon activity and the pattern activity. I do this with Kyden using skittles all the time. He will make patterns and I will continue them or vice versa. Kids really love this game and I think its a great activity for kids and learning about patterns. I also liked the book, it was very cute. I know I have learned that algebra is not as scary as I thought it was. I had no idea patterns were considered algebra!
